THE PAINTINGS SECTION FROM DAVIS MUSEUM The Davis Lisboa Mini-Museum of Contemporary Art in Barcelona ¿Qué inspiró el trabajo? Esta pintura fue inspirada por "Boîte-en-valise", 1936-1941, por el artista francés Dadaist Marcel Duchamp. ¿Qué esperan que los espectadores sientan / piensen? Espero que los espectadores piensen que el acto de hacer una pintura al óleo de un dadaísta "readymade" es un disparate completo! Y eso me fascina. ¿Por qué eligió el medio, el tema, el estilo? Elegí la pintura al óleo porque es una técnica brillante, durable y que permite una amplia variedad de tonalidades. Elegí el gris, porque hace que la pintura parezca una vieja fotografía de principios del siglo XX. Este detalle puede proporcionar una crítica sutil de la obra de Duchamp: enviar "Boîte-en-valise" a la obsolescencia. Por otra parte, he elegido este estilo muy preciso, profesional y no personal para conectarme con algunas viejas obras de Duchamp, como "Chocolate Grinder" (N º 1), 1913. Davis Lisboa (São Paulo, Brazil, 1965) is a Barcelona-based Spanish Brazilian illustrator, visual artist and founder/director of The Davis Museum, The Davis Lisboa Mini-Museum of Contemporary Art in Barcelona. His goal is erase the borders between graphic and fine arts, high and low culture, art and market, crafts and technology.
