Biography

Iba para futbolista, pero, tras una fractura de rodilla, cambió sus guantes de portero titular en la Real Sociedad por unas manos desnudas a la búsqueda de volúmenes incitado por su tardía vocación. Su andadura artística se inició en 1942, con unos estudios de arquitectura que abandonaría para dedicarse al dibujo y la escultura en una academia. Saltó a París, donde debutó en 1950 con la muestra. Impresionado por la escultura griega, empezó a trabajar en yeso para pasar luego al hierro, su materia favorita. Su talento, equiparable al de Brancusi o Giacometti, fue pronto reconocido internacionalmente y su obra queda repartida en los mejores museos y colecciones.
