Tips for our artists

Tips to promote your work

Would you like to promote your artworks on the Internet and do not know how to do it? Here we have some tips for you to learn how to use flecha.es.

Create a good portfolio

Having an organized portfolio, with good images in high resolution gets you in the good path.

Having good images of all your artworks is your presentation letter. Note that the client must have a real vision of how is your artwork in order to avoid any surprises .

HOW TO PHOTOGRAPH YOUR ARTWORK

The basics:

  1. The artwork must be shown completely.
  2. The camera must have a minimum of quality.
  3. The artwork has to be photographed in a precise angle: all sides of the artwork must be parallel to the viewfinder sides .
  4. The light should be uniform throughout the artwork, therefore, we recommend natural light.

Verify that the camera is focused, square and that the colors are ok.

  5. For the sculptures, we suggest a flat bottom or silhouetted image. We also recommend you to put several photos of your work so that the client can get a good idea of how it is.
  6. If the artwork is framed, plus the unframed image, you must upload another photo that includes frame.

To have your original artwork up for sale, your picture should have a weigh around 1MB in JPG.

However, if you also want to sell reproductions of your work, the image must be in high resolution; 150pp min and:

  • For 100x70 cm: in JPG its weight should be around 20MB.
  • For 70x50 cm: in JPG its weight should be around 15MB.
  • For 50x35 cm: in JPG its weight should be around 7MB.

If you need it, you can always hire a professional photographer to take good pictures of your work. If you have any questions, you can contact us via mail flecha@flecha.es

SERIAL ARTWORKS

If your artwork is multiple, you will have to indicate it when you first upload your artwork in the platform. You'll have to fill the correspondent field indicating how many copies has the series or edition.

BE FOUND EASILY

Art buyers can become very particular when it comes to buying and looking for new artists. They may be interested in a particular technique or subject. You never know which filter the buyer can use to find you. Therefore we recommend you to write a good description of your work, your biography and please include a discipline, size, technique, title, and keywords. In flecha.es we'll do the rest for you. We promise that if you complete all this information we will have the necessary tools for the buyer to have a crush on your work.

What price should the artist put to its work?

Nowadays, art buyers are more sophisticated than ever. In a Marketplace such as FLECHA, users can research and compare prices of the artworks of different artists.

HOW TO PRICE AN ARTWORK

If you have already established a market price, just remember to add the packaging costs. For everything related to VAT, we recommend you click on this link: Billing Guide

Tips:

  • It is very important in terms of quotation and progression of the artist, to have THE SAME price globally.
  • If you sell enough, rise up the price of your works 10% each year.
  • Two works with the same size and the same techniques should IN PRINCIPLE have the same price.

TIPS TO ESTABLISH THE PRICE OF AN ARTWORK IF ITS THE FIRST TIME YOU EXPOSE IT

Compare the price of your artwork with the rest, especially with artists who have already sold something with similar characteristics to yours. As a tip, if youre a bit lost, we recommend you to double the price of the material used. Then, add your rate/time per your working hours.
